We are pleased to announce the 3^rd reunion of the USS Edisto Association will be held Thursday, May 1^st through Sunday, May 4^th, at the Newport News, Virginia.  This Marriott Hotel is located downtown in Oyster Point City Center approximately nine miles from downtown Newport News, and is five miles from Newport News-Williamsburg International Airport.  Local attractions include the Ferguson Center for the Arts, and the Mariners' Museum which houses the new USS Monitor Center.

The negotiated rate for our group is $99/night plus tax.  Reservations must be made by the cut-off date of March 31, 2008 and should be made in the name of the USS EDISTO GROUP.   I have also negotiated a discount on breakfast when presenting your reunion badge and free parking.  A covered parking building is adjacent to the hotel or Valet parking is available for a fee of $12/day.

Hotel amenities include parking (Free to the Edisto Group), newspapers, laundry facilities, room service, dry cleaning service, gift shop, seasonal cafe, restaurant, bar, fitness center, and a swimming pool.  Guest rooms feature high-speed Internet access, work desks, air conditioning, alarm clocks, coffeemakers, irons and ironing boards, safes, bathrobes, hairdryers, cable TVs, movies on-demand, and minibars.

There are 256 guest rooms/11 floors  - accessible rooms available upon request - 3 with roll-in showers - gift shop- sundries available at the front desk - ice machine on every floor - Laundromat - available for guest use - non-smoking rooms // all rooms in hotel are non-smoking -  smoking allowed in designated public areas only – covered parking  - safe deposit boxes and in-room safes.

Recreation -  health club - treadmill, stair stepper, life cycle, and universal machine - pool regular size indoor pool, with adjacent hot tub. 

And last, but not least, there are numerous upscale shops and restaurants just steps from the hotel.

A tentative schedule for the event is:

·         Thursday, May 1:          Check-in, Registration & Reception Buffet Dinner

·         Friday, May 2:               Tour of Williamsburg, VA and the Mariner’s Museum and USS Monitor

·         Saturday, May 3:           A 2-hour river cruise of the Norfolk Naval station, a tour of Nauticus, the   Navy Museum and tour of the battleship USS Wisconsin.

·         Sunday, May 4              Meeting in AM and Banquet & Memorial Service in PM
